Marcasite rose in popularity during the Victorian Era, where it was favoured by Queen Victoria, who would wear Marcasite jewellery as a more affordable option to Diamonds.

Marcasite is sometime referred to as White Iron Pyrite, due to it's similar metallic appearance to the 'Fools Gold' Pyrite Mineral.
