Description:

Petitbon, the famous French flower, moves to Sony Classical after 7 years of silence! Her first album is a songbook about love, death and the sea, running from Faure to John Lennon. Patricia Petitbon is a famous French singer who studied with William Christie and was recognized by Arnoncourt. Originally an operetta and baroque opera singer with a unique presence, Petitbon's name became famous when she was invited to perform at the Royal Opera House in Paris. Her name became famous with the release of "Airs baroques francais - French baroque arias" (Virgin to Erato) in 2001. Her repertoire has since expanded to include not only baroque arias but also Berg's "Lulu," and her tremendous expressiveness in a variety of expressive styles has earned her worldwide acclaim. 2014's release of "Eccentric Beauty - French Songs" (DG) was a meaningful return to her roots. It was an album that took her back to her roots. This new release, recorded seven years later, is the first release in her move to Sony Classical. It is entitled "Love, Death, and the Sea"! The recital is basically a recital with piano accompaniment by longtime partner Susan Manoff, but with occasional additions of accordion, percussion, and bagpipe sounds. It is a recital of classical songs, but as always Petit Bon destroys the classical barriers. From a tight classical format to French songs by Faure, Poulenc, Arn, Kula, and others, to Spanish post-Romanticism by Ramirez, Rodrigo, Granados, and others, based on the concept of three key words that are indispensable for human beings: "love," "death," and "sea, From the tight classical format to the more recent songs with arrangements, the music easily transcends time, space, and borders. What we have here is literally the spirit of freedom. The mystery of love, the fascination with death, and the vibrant sea. Petitbon becomes a "singing mermaid" swimming between these elements, giving strength and inspiration to the listener. As the saying goes, "the sea washes away the wounds and stains of mankind," music hollows out the sky and internalizes the sea.In this way, Petibon creates an intimate world with the poetry and the songs, making the album a complex of perfect artistic integrity. Love, death, and the sea are all merely stops on the journey we follow in life. Like a white whale, carrying poetic sentiments and questioning our own mood swings, we travel through the waves and the sea that comforts us. The sea is the mother that holds us, the one that knocks us to the shore and turns our grief into wave foam. Like the shore disappears when Ulysses turns his face to the unknown, we throw ourselves into simple, nostalgic recordings in search of greater meaning. We dedicate this album to those who have loved us and left us, those we have loved and continue to love, and those who have brought down their anger on the deepest things of our hearts. --Patricia Petitbon, Sony Music
