Description:
Franz Liszt, who in his younger days sold his superb technique, gradually became more introspective as he grew older and went through various hardships, and his compositional style moved closer to the "religious world" that he himself had longed to explore. Inspired by a poem by the French poet Lamartine, he composed one of his "poetic and religious compositions" in 1834 (the prototype for the fourth piece), which he revised in 1847 and 1853. This album contains the second draft from 1847, and includes pieces that were not included in the third draft, such as "Hymn of the Night" and "Hymn of the Morning"; pieces from the preliminary stages of the third draft, such as "Remembrance of the Dead" and "Hymn to a Child Awakened from Sleep"; and the prototype for "God Bless in Solitude," which in the third draft is a large work that exceeds 15 minutes. The third draft includes the prototype of "God's Blessing in Solitude," which is a large piece of over 15 minutes in length. Naxos Japan
