Andy Aiona (1902-1966), known as a composer, singer, and conductor, was a great musician who added a brass section to Hawaiian music and created a swingy, jive sound. A multi-talented clarinetist, saxophonist, and steel guitarist, his music was a perfect blend of jazz and Hawaiian music with a strong sense of popular appeal. This definitive album offers such recordings by Aiona from 1929 to 1940, with music selection and commentary by Yuki Yamauchi and Katsunori Tanaka. Originally released in 1999, it has been remastered and reissued at a lower price.
