Description:
New Zealand-born composer Ross Harris has attracted attention for his many unique works and has contributed to the country's musical development for more than 30 years, teaching at the University of Victoria's Wellington Music Department. All of his symphonies are known for their strong messages, and this Symphony No. 6, entitled "The Last Letter," also effectively uses four poems by Vincent O'Sullivan, one of New Zealand's most famous poets. It is a meditative and beautiful piece of music that blends death, despair, and solace through music. Faith," which depicts the trauma of a soldier wounded in the face during World War I, uses a poem, also by Vincent O'Sullivan, as its text. The music, which oscillates between tonality and atonality, sings even more strongly of personal grief. Naxos Japan
