Italy's leading world-renowned clarinetist. Michele Carulli plays "Fantasias and Sonatas"! Michele Carulli (1958-) was appointed principal clarinetist of the Orchestra La Scala in Milan in 1979 at the young age of 19 after receiving a recommendation from Claudio Abbado, and has become one of Italy's leading clarinetists, while also achieving international fame as a conductor. In addition to his achievements as a clarinetist, he was invited by Seiji Ozawa and the Boston Symphony Orchestra to participate in a seminar at the Tanglewood Music Festival in 1992, and since 1994 he has been Giuseppe Sinopoli's personal assistant as a conductor. The new release, "Affinity", will be available on this website. This new release, "Affinity," is a collection of works that mark Michele Carulli's "present" as a clarinetist. Through four works by Gesé, Saint-Saëns, Martineau, and Poulenc, the album depicts the evolution and development of music for clarinet in the late Romantic and neoclassical periods. Tokyo M-Plus
