Stenhammar (1871-1927)
Description:
Carl Stenhammar (1871-1927) was a famous pianist. His Sonata in G minor is composed with Wagnerian motifs and gives a very bold and heroic impression. At times, Schumann-like dreaminess comes to mind, and one can feel his passion for music. The piano music of Brahms is said to have influenced Stenhammar, but the clear harmonies and French expression in this collection clearly show Stenhammar's unique side. This is the first recording by Italian pianist Paolo Scafarella for Piano Classics. Stenhammar is expected to play an active role as a specialist in the future.
