This pin celebrates one of jewelry’s most intricate art forms: the Italian micro mosaic -  tiny glass tesserae hand-laid, one by one, to form delicate flowers.

The technique originated in 18th-century Rome and found its place in history during the era of the Grand Tour - a journey taken by young aristocrats and artists across Europe, often ending in Italy. The tradition carried on through the mid-20th century, when Italian artisans revived the form in pieces meant to be worn, not simply displayed.
