A wonderful and substantial Georgian era pendant. Dating to the early 1800s it is beautifully designed in the form of a pansy flower ; a motif rich in symbolism during the period.

Created in 9 carat gold, the pendant is formed as a striking pansy bloom, a flower that held particular sentimental meaning in Georgian and Victorian jewellery. The pansy was associated with love, remembrance, and “thinking of you,” making it a popular motif for sentimental pieces.

The petals of the flower are formed from pear cut garnets, each foil backed in the traditional Georgian manner to enhance their depth and brilliance. This technique allows the garnets to display wonderful rich colour and lively sparkle, with the facets catching the light beautifully.

Surrounding the flower is a delicate border of pearls, which continues gracefully through to the loop, creating a harmonious and elegant frame for the design. The pearls provide a soft contrast to the deep red garnets and warm gold setting.
