Ripe aromas of blackberry jam, violets, liquorice and strawberry. Some overripe, confit berries, and dried blackcurrant notes. A wine you want to sink your teeth into. Very full-bodied, powerful, with sharp acidity. It's concentrated, with dense fruit and muscular, chewy tannins. Crucially though it has a sense of freshness; the alcohol is warming but not hot or spirity. Salinity helps to bring further freshness. When many people feel like drinking serious Châteauneuf, this is what they have in mind. It's traditional, and very well done. Not hugely long, but big impact. From sandy soils in lieu-dit La Crau, part destemmed, fermented in stainless steel, aged in demi-muids for 12 months.
