We created our Mamma Cat print to celebrate Mother’s Day. While the date of Mother’s Day varies around the world, the sentiment remains the same. In some countries, it is celebrated on 8th March (International Women’s Day), while in the UK, Mother’s Day falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent. Since the Middle Ages, Mothering Sunday has honoured mother churches, where people are baptised and become ‘children of the church.’

In Brazil, it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. No matter the date, it’s a time to celebrate mothers everywhere.

This print is the second in our cat series: mother cats licking their kittens. This behaviour serves several purposes: it helps keep the kittens clean, builds a strong bond between mother and offspring, and releases pheromones, creating a comforting scent that helps the kittens feel safe and connected to their mother. It’s a beautiful example of maternal care in the feline world.
