This 1:72 diecast model of B-17G Flying Fortress ‘Flak Eater’ captures the power and presence of one of WWII’s most iconic heavy bombers. From the perspective of a Luftwaffe pilot, the sight of tightly packed American bomber formations like this one—bristling with defensive guns—was both awe-inspiring and deadly. By 1944, the definitive B-17G variant introduced the Bendix chin turret to counter frontal attacks, making these bombers even harder to take down.
Based at Chelveston with the USAAF 364th Bombardment Squadron, ‘Flak Eater’ featured aggressive shark mouth artwork around its nose turret—a bold warning to any incoming fighter. This fearsome look, combined with her formidable firepower, helped her complete at least 28 combat missions and survive the war. She returned to the U.S. in June 1945 and was later scrapped at Kingman Army Airfield—like many of the brave aircraft that saw combat over Europe.
This model comes prebuilt and includes display accessories and a stand, ideal for collectors and WWII aviation enthusiasts.
