RESERVED A wonderful example of early 20c costume, and antique textile combined. A pretty chintz print. 

Well made in it's time, it appears to have been re-worked from a much earlier dress/bodice judging by the print and back panel, into a georgian-esque bodice with looped peplum.  

Wonderful elbow flounces and faux stomacher mimic the earlier era. Centre front fastening with hooks and eyes concealed beneath front panel. There is an awful lot of very fine hand stitching, and one section of boning to lower centre back seam.

Bust is hard to measure, seems like 26” plus cup room to front?

Length from shoulder to hem 22” at longest point

shoulder to waist of bodice approx 12” at side 

sleeve underarm time edge of cuff 10”

Condition: 

Quite probably reworked from earlier garment, it has been well constructed and the integrity of fabric is still surprisingly excellent, as very good quality cotton.

I have actually spent some time hand cleaning, as was heavily soiled. Some stage make up marks remain just along inner neck edge, and there are some marks I just could not remove - but none that really detract from it's overall appeal. A few very small worn spots and frays -  mainly where hooks have caught I think. Odd loose stitch. Please see all photos.  

It’s too small for my mannequin in the bust as no flexibility! Waist isn’t too tiny though.
