c. 1930s to early 40s two piece pale shell pink lounge set, consisting of sleeveless top and wide legged bottoms. It’s beautifully made, with French seams and hand rolled hems.

The bias cut top features a faggoted rouleax type neckline trim which is echoed in the side inserts at the bottom of the trousers. Shoulder ties give a slightly adjustable fit, and there is a back tie also. 

The wide legged trousers have a v shaped front yoke, and fasten to one side with buttons. The fabric which I believe is a silk damask, has a finely woven design of mountains and animals - it does remind me of the Rockies and I wonder if this was an American set. 

Measures: Approx a modern UK10? Due to bias cut can fit a little smaller with drape.

Condition:  Overall very good, and appears little worn

- there is one skilful repair to front right trouser leg. Three small silk arrowheads have been embroidered, I assume to cover damage. (These motifs are echoed down the centre front to make it look intentional). It's a very imaginative repair which isn't immediately obvious.. initially I thought it part of the design. 

- I’ve handwashed it, had been laundered with fabric conditioner I think prior to my purchase and still smells a little but it’s not offensive. I’m just used to things smelling old, perhaps!

- small smudge to thigh

- pin sized spot to right side of bodice 

- very faint evidence of colour transfer from another garment? Near side seam. 

- very faint yellowing in a line near dropped crotch seam, only seen when held to light. 

I’m being really picky in case this is being given as a gift in particular! Please see all photos. There’s nothing that would prevent me from wearing it, or anything that is at all obvious be please be aware it’s 80 plus, and hasn’t fared badly! Silk very sturdy.
