About Warring States Beads:

Warring States Beads were crafted during the Warring States period (5th – 3rd century BCE) before the unification of China by the Qin Dynasty. The earliest glass in China, dating back to the 11th – 8th centuries BCE, was discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, glass products began to be widely circulated during the Warring States period. Early Warring States beads were predominantly made from faience—a ceramic material decorated with glass patterns. Later, fully glass beads were also produced. The patterns often featured designs like "Seven-Star Beads" and "Eye Beads," which were characterized by dotted motifs. Although many aspects of glass-making techniques and design elements were influenced by Western Asia, the composition of Chinese glass from this era differs from Roman glass, highlighting the advanced glass-making technology in ancient China. These beads are highly valued not just for their historical significance but also for their diverse designs and vibrant colors, making them a favorite among collectors.
