One of two I am listing (the other with embroidered wisteria), this is a beautiful thing! In a feather light silk chiffon, it appears to have been hand embroidered with dahlia's. The centre's of the flowers have ben painstakingly embroidered in what looks like forbidden stitch.
The 'hood' is a turban style, fully lined again in silk. The front brim is edged in a scalloped binding, and the crown features a soft chenille flower. It's gathered at the centre front, and beneath the chenille flower, to create the turban effect. it fastens to the front with braid ties.
Much hand stitching, it's been beautifully done. I assume the silk train is a width from the bolt, as it has manufactured selvedges. It's very beautiful, and (aside from the one it came with) I've never seen another like it.
Measures:
Effectively one size, as designed to be worn as a veil.
Around the scalloped brim of the 'hood' measures approx 22". It is 14" across the bottom back edge of the hood, where it meets the train.
The train (not including hood) is approx 27' wide x 72' long, not including fringed end with tassels
Condition:
It's really quite excellent. Appears to have only been worn once.. There's really nothing to note aside from a little dust at the very end of the tassels, and a tiny snag in the silk as shown. Has clearly been very well cared for. Amazing to think it's nearly a century old!
