DESCRIPTION: Two very beautiful matching Victorian or Edwardian applique patches, likely cut from a dress or cloak. They feature metallic bullion soutache embellishment, coupled with wooden beadwork in dark red, medium green, cream and ultramarine blue. A truly unusual and earthy embellishment, perhaps worn by a more bohemian type in the late 1890s.
COLOR: Black fabric. Beads are cream, red, blue, green. The soutache is gold metallic.
MATERIAL: Silk, wood, metal.

The applique is in two pieces:
Large piece:
Length (total): approx. 17 1/2 in. (44.5 cm)
Length (applique): 15 in. (38.1 cm)
Width (widest): 5 in. (12.7 cm)
Width (narrowest): 1 1/4 in. (3.2 cm)
Small piece:
Length (total): 6 in. (15.2 cm)
Length (applique): 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm)

CONDITION: Very good for its age. the silk fabric is unevenly cut around the applique, but it is in good condition, with no holes, pulls, fading or stains.
The soutache is all intact, and shows uniform tarnish.
There are a few missing beads on the larger piece, however there are a few loose beads included in the package. The smaller piece has all of the beads intact.
