Later 1920s (may be just on the cusp at 1930 with the sleeves?) drop waisted ecru linen dress with embroidered shoulder wings or capelet sleeves, and matching hem border. Channelling thoughts of spring/summer, as I write this on a grey day!

The crewel-type cotton embroidery in jewel tones has a geometric Egyptian influence. The sleeves are lined entirely in a cornflower blue with visible border, and skirt hem edged in the same bias trim. 

Considering it’s age it’s very good - especially considering the pale colour! Has been carefully cleaned, a few scattered age marks remain as shown, but nothing intrusive. Please see close ups.

I do love the embroidery and it’s amazingly nearly all intact, with nothing really obviously out of place. There are a couple of places where ends had come adrift, so have threaded anything loose I could see back through.
