c. late 1920s oriental embroidery three piece lounge or pyjama suit, comprising longline capped sleeve jacket, collared boxy overblouse with capped sleeves, and a cropped pair of loose fitting pyjama trousers with elasticated waist.

The set is black with orange. Jacket and blouse are heavily embroidered with chinese dragons on a black ground, while the trousers are bright tango orange, with black banding to hem, with coordinating embroidery.

The overjacket has neat frogging fasteners, but these appear more decorative than funcional as intended to be worn open and loose fitting.

No label but believed to be silk, or a rayon blend? Please see photograph of the lovely Myrna Loy wearing a very similar outfit!

Measures: 

Blouse (boxy cut): 38” Bust / Waist 42” / Length 24”

Trousers: waist 18-30” elasticated / hips 48” max / inseam 18”  - dropped crotch / waist to hem outer leg seam 34” / cuff is just under 18” circumference.

Overjacket: Length 46” / underarm to underarm 42” max flat / hips approx 44” if fastened 

Condition: 

Overall very good considering the age, and certainly wearable. I have not liked to clean, but no notable stains. Showing a few small signs of storage and wear - small damage to back of collar as shown is the worst thing.

It looks like there is some slight colour transfer from black to the orange - this is more so to the top and trousers.. I think these have been worn/washed more than the long jacket. The orange on this is a bit brighter and doesn’t seem to have any dye transfer/rub. 

All embroidery is in very good condition! 

The jacket is really very good, aside from a small scattering of small pinhead to 2mm holes, to one bottom side near hem as shown. 

Still very wearable for nearly a century old.. silk is strong. Please see photos.
