Julius, a sensitive seven-year-old boy, finds himself in turmoil when his colored pencils suddenly stop working. Drawing has always been his way of making sense of his feelings—especially when loneliness, anger, or sadness feel too heavy to carry. Then, one winter’s evening, Julius discovers that his grandparents’ snow globe holds a hidden secret. Inside it lives Soh, a bright, mysterious girl with braids and a spark in her eyes, who has been waiting for him. And to Julius’ astonishment, his beloved stuffed parrot Pappus springs to life—feathers, voice, and all. Together the three set off on a fantastical quest to find the lost Colorsprights, the tiny beings that give pencils their colors. To bring them back, they must locate the Hiding Chest, a task that requires three magical keys hidden across breathtaking landscapes.
