Expansion vessel for solar
Expansion vessels are an important component in every heating, cooling, solar and domestic hot water system.
The expansion vessel is one of the safety components for closed solar thermal systems. Expansion vessels can be used in all types of heating systems (provided this is technically feasible).
Expansion vessels are welded steel vessels whose interior is divided into two parts by an elastic diaphragm: gas and water. The gas section is equipped with a pressure regulating valve. The water section is filled with the heat transfer fluid from the solar thermal system.
The correct pressure in the gas system stabilizes the pressure of the entire central heating system (the system changes its volume while maintaining a constant pressure). Expansion vessels for solar thermal systems are typically supplied filled with gas at a specific pressure. During installation, it is necessary to adjust the pressure in the gas section to the heating system's requirements. The minimum operating pressure is 0.5 bar.
Expansion vessels can be used in heating systems with an operating temperature of up to 100°C. Heating systems with expansion vessels must be equipped with a safety valve, thermometer, and pressure gauge.
