It was expertly woven in the south-eastern Persian city of Lavar and draws heavily from nature for inspiration and influence in its traditional design. At the heart of the rug lies an all-over pattern composed of cypress trees, paisleys and various flowers in the field. The surrounding body is filled to capacity with cypress motifs, paisley designs and a host of branching flora. A broad multi-band border contains a multiplicity of repeating patterned designs of trees, scroll work, laurel leafs, paisleys, daisies and various other flora. This rug has been distressed.
