Haydn, J.
Description:
Influenced by Liszt and Schumann, the German-born composer Lentchen was a close friend of Brahms. He was also an accomplished pianist, and each of his seven piano concertos requires a high degree of virtuosity. His early works are based on a romantic style reminiscent of Brahms and Schumann, but as his interest gradually shifted to neoclassical works, his later works have a modern atmosphere with avant-garde techniques, such as the use of compound tunings that seem to have been influenced by Hindemith and Willem Peipel. The album includes the early 3rd and 4th pieces, and the 2nd and 3rd pieces. This album contains his early works No. 3 and his later works No. 6 and No. 7, which clearly show how Rentchen's style changed as he adapted to the trends of the times. Naxos Japan
