Description:
The string trio is perhaps the most concentrated form of chamber music. England's Henry Purcell demonstrated this as early as the end of the 17th century with his "Fantasia in Three Voices," and Beethoven in the 18th century left one of the most beautiful string trios, along with works by Mozart. Gideon Klein was a composer who unfortunately fell victim to the Nazis. Composed in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, the work was written just days before Klein's deportation to Auschwitz in 1944, where he lost his life. The Goltsberg Trio Bonn is an ensemble of skilled virtuosos, consisting of former Cherubini Quartet violinist Herald Schönevek, his wife Verena, and Christian Brunert, who was a solo cellist in the Bonn Beethoven Orchestra. The performance is beautiful and compelling. (The violin is a 1742 Niccolò Galliano and the cello is a 1698 Giovanni Grancino.) Tokyo M-Plus
