This is a probable variant of Avicularia juruensis from Ecuador, which was errourously labeled as A. bicegoi when they were initially brought into the hobby years ago and were given a common name of 'Brazilian' based on the origin location of the real A. bicegoi being Brazil. However, the animals going under the A. bicegoi label in the hobby have never been the animals originally described as A. bicegoi. With the publication of Fukushima, C. S. & Bertani, R. (2017) and the subsequent elevation of Avicularia variegata to full species status (rather than a subspecies of A. avicularia), and the synonymization of A. bicegoi with A. variegata, it became clear that the hobby specimens under the 'A. bicegoi' label were incorrectly labeled.
