Charming Edwardian dark midnight blue fine worsted wool blouse/bodice with fancy self-stripe weave. Lined in a taupe coloured cotton drill, and everything has been very well finished.  

Featuring front pin tuck detail, and angled lappets to front with symmetrical grosgrain covered button decoration. 

The neckline is trimmed with a broderie type lace, which is also used at the end of the sleeve. There are mock cuffs in a mesh like knit, trimmed with black satin at the cuff. Sleeve heads are slightly gathered and puffed.

Fastens to the centre back with internal hooks and eyes, and externally original press studs make the closures more secure.

It's a light to medium weight piece - lightweight jacket or heavy blouse. I wore with sailor trousers and a long top beneath, as it has a slightly nautical feel to the front.

It's probably waist length on most, slightly fitted with a short  split peplum  - I imagine would originally have had a matching high waisted skirt. It wouldn't be too hard to fine a plain navy one if you wished to recreate the full Edwardian look.

Condition: 

Condition is very good, especially considering the age.

Completely strong and wearable, it has very slight underarm fade to the lining (externally minimal). Externally in the crease of the underarm there is a minimal felting. 

There is some light rubbing and minor fraying to the satin binding at neckline and cuffs - worst as shown at neckline. 

There are some historic repairs near the seam of the mesh cuffs, which are quite well done and I only found when I held them to the light. On the inside of the wrist when worn, so not very obvious.

I can't find any moth! Has previously been in freezer.
