This compilation of essays has been collected in honour of Peter Young’s 70th anniversary 2 November 2011. The essays have been written by friends, colleagues and former students, and they all reflect Peter’s research areas and interest in Colonial and Postcolonial studies. Indeed, Peter was an international pioneer in what was then called Common­wealth literature, now Postcolonial literature, beginning his research on African literature in English as early as the 1960s.
