Federico Mompou (1893-1987) was one of the greatest Spanish composers of the 20th century, whose style was influenced by French modern music and Impressionism, and was said to be in the lineage of Debussy. It is also regarded as one of his greatest masterpieces. Characterized by its meditative and mystical style, "Secret Music" is considered the most avant-garde style of music among Montpauw's works. The veteran Italian composer/pianist Giancarlo Simonacci was the one who recorded this grand and mysterious work of Montpauw. He studied composition with Aldo Clementi at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia and piano with Carlo Zecchi at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and is highly regarded as a pianist, having completed a complete set of Pizzetti's piano works.
